URSYS provides secure private network solutions used at
remote health clinics for the delivery of patient
information and remote consultation applications. Many of
these sites are operating under Australian Government
Broadband for Health satellite services. URSYS packages the
broadband health connections, Citrix servers for running
Patient Information Retrieval Systems and VoIP telephony
into a secure private network. As a result health services
can support multiple remote clinics with data, telephony
and PIRS systems operating over the one satellite link.
Services can be supported into even the remotest indigenous
health clinics.
One such health service
is Kimberly Aboriginal Medical Service (KAMSC). The highly
successful "Broadband for Health" DoHA initiative, funded
the implementation of VSAT communications services and
equipment supplied by URSYS and NEWSAT to improve the
health services being provided by KAMSC. Soon all
individual data links to these clinics will be consolidated
into one prioritized space segment producing significant
performance gains and cost savings.
With up to 15%
improvement in the performance of their PIRS system and a
saving of 10% in monthly operating costs, the change over
to a managed prioritized Space Segment was well worth the
effort.
As well as operational
and performance benefits the optimized Clinics now have
access to low cost Voice over Internet Protocol, commonly
known as VoIP, where Clinic to Clinic calls a free and
national calls are set at 10 cents per un-timed call,
representing a huge operational cost saving to the Clinical
budget!
With this successful
trial completed, the path is now set to convert all BfH
funded clinics onto managed space segments.
